I Bee 1!!

A friend asked if I could make an outfit for her little girl for her 1st birthday. I told her I would try. They have always called her "Queen Bee" as she is the youngest of 4 and the only girl!

I haven't used my embroidery machine enough to say so but decided to try. Here are the results. I learned a lot doing this project hopefully the next one will be better. And there will be a next time!

More Cakes!!

Well here are the cakes I made for Maddy. Her 8th birthday!

I can not get this photo to stay upright... Any ideas?

I found several photos of cakes that I forgot to post... So be patient as I try to catch up... Before I do the next ones in November.

This cake was a lot of fun to make. It was the first time I tried to color the batter. It worked!

Am I an artist yet?

I just realized I haven't painted since April. I did paint 2 pictures back then but haven't picked up a paint brush since. Here are the ones I did.

This one I did for my niece.

I know I need to crop these but it is the end of a long day. I will fix them later.

I know I am my worst critic (I have been told that is the norm) But I do have so much to learn. But I am having so much fun trying to paint.

I am starting an art class later this month and it is completely different than this style of painting. First off I will learn to draw using the right side of my brain.

The instructor is Kathy Chester. Her web site is www.kathychesterstudios.com and it shows a lot of her work.

I can't wait to get started. I will be sharing what I learn this semester.

Even my Knomes think it is too early!

I was wandering in my yard yesterday and saw my first Daffodil blossom. To me, they have always meant spring is here and the cold is almost over. NOT this year!! I can not believe how warm it has been. Leaves me a little concerned about what to expect next...

May as well take a nap, God is in control..........

Liebster Blog Award

Imagine my surprise when I received an award today from Marge at Simplecookery - The Leibster Blog Award! Thanks Marge! Happy surprises are the best! I'm a new follower on Anita's blog; it's been a real pleasure checking out her recipes and great photos.

Liebster is German and translates to the English word“dearest”or” favorite”.
It’s meant for up-and-coming blogs with less than 200 followers.”

Here are the rules

• Thank your Liebster Blog Award presenter on your blog.
•Link back to the blogger who presented the award to you.
•Copy and paste the blog award on your blog.
•Present the Liebster Blog Award to 5 blogs of 200 followers or less who you feel deserve
to be noticed. (Some say just 3 or more blogs of less than 200 followers each).
•Let them know they have been chosen by leaving a comment at their blog.
The responsibility of accepting the Liebster Blog Award also means choosing five blogs to nominate for the Award. One of the best things about awards like this is that it helps get the word out to others about the blogs you enjoy following. There are so many blogs and each one deserves an award for the time and effort put into each post. But, since there can be only five.....

# 6

I painted this on an 8 x 10 black canvas. I don't think it is too shabby for my first one, on sooo many levels. I still need to work on Ann's eyes. But..............

Painting #4

I went to a painting class today and this is what I painted. I am so enjoying this new hobby.

This is the first painting I have done without an instructor!

This was harder than I thought it would be. An instructor can tell you how to fix things and make things look better. But I enjoyed painting this and I know I will improve as I get more comfortable. My nephew claimed this as soon as he saw it. That is quite the compliment.....

My 1st floral painting

What a great day. I took my first flower painting class. It is only my second painting class ever. I love doing this. I hope I just keep improving with each class.
Thanks for checking out my work.

This is my first, but not my last, painting!!

I took my first class a couple weeks ago and I was shocked that my painting looks like something. I can't wait for the next classes in January! It is so much fun.

I think I may have gone a little overboard.

I have been making shower caps for Christmas. I kept seeing more and more fabric that I thought would make a pretty cap. Now I have 9 or 10 completely made, 11 to add elastic to and 5 to sew up.  I think I better finish what I started and stop.

This is how I am packaging the caps for Christmas Gifts. I place a small cardboard circle in the bottom of the cap, added some toiletries then tied it up with ribbon. I will wrap completely with Cellophane and tie it up with a bow.

I do hope my family likes them.

Silky Shower Caps

I was looking for a cute way to give gift certificates to all the females in my gift giving circle, and this is what I came up with:
I plan to make small gift baskets with toiletries and hats, then add the gift card to the tag.
I got a little carried away and will try to sell some of them.
(Please excuse the mess of my sewing room. This time of year the elves are busy!)

Maddy's 7th Birthday

It has been a while since I have made any birthday cakes. My great-niece had her party on Saturday and I volunteered to make the cake for it. I have to say it wasn't too fancy, I used Wiltons wafers to make the decorations. But Maddy seemed to happy with it, she is the little girl in the purple dress. I really like the push-ups the kids loved them. They made clean up pretty easy. The photos show the cake after the pushups and before.

Mr. Ground Cover

I bought some ground cover to plant on a ditch that runs across the front of my yard. But it has been so hot, I just couldn't dig up the area and plant it. But I had to do something with it. I was determined to keep it alive.
So this is what I did.
As you can tell, dirt is not in abundance in my yard.
The county I live in is known for the rocky terrain.

Just Look At His Smile!!!

Colton wanted a train cake for his party and I was thrilled. He originally wanted Spiderman so the idea of making a train was great. I thought it would be soooo easy. I didn't start it until about 6pm the night before I had to deliver it at noon. WELL! I was so very wrong. I learned a great deal while making this cake. Like, never get too confident, never use chocolate cake, it is impossible to keep the crumbs covered up and so much more. Everything I planned in my head went wrong. ..... But I delivered on time.... And he loved the cake. That is what it is all about.

Maddie's Birthday Cake

I made this cake for my great niece for her birthday.

I can't say I am getting any better at this, but it is fun.

Aiden Ray Hacker

I love what my sister is able to do with photography.  She took this photo of her newest grandson & then cleaned it up. I don't have the original photo but isn't this just about the cutest photo you have ever seen?
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hot Purse

I made this purse for a friend a while back. She was going to a party as a Firewoman and needed somewhere to carry her stuff. It opened at the black band around it. I can see where I could have improved on it but it served its purpose.

Pretty In Pink

Isn't she Cute!
I haven't been crafting a lot lately. So I thought I would show you Bella Anne in her new winter coat.
